JON BRADY - 'TALKS ARE ONGOING'

The Cobblers boss provides an update

27 May 2022

Northampton Town manager Jon Brady says the club remains in communication with the players who are out of contract.

“We’ve got strong relationships with all of those three players (Roberts, Horsfall and McWilliams) and talks are ongoing," he said.

“We have tried throughout the season to tie those players up but they have chosen to wait until now and that's fine, that's their right.

“We are doing our best and we are in constant communication with those players and time will tell over the next few weeks.

"We are realistic about the situation, it’s a realistic process and we have spoken to the players about that and there are certain parameters that we have set with them.”

Brady says he feels the Cobblers are in better shape this summer than last, when wholesale changes were needed.

“We had a smaller foundation at the start of last season and we feel we are in a stronger position now than we were twelve months ago," he confirmed.

“It’s important that we build around that foundation and if we can knit the new players we sign into that group we feel we will be in a really good position.

“We are working tirelessly to put together the best squad we can for the coming season, work doesn’t stop and we will keep working throughout the summer to hopefully come back stronger.”
