CLARET MOUNTAINEERS COMPLETE FOUR MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE

Group raise money for Northampton Town Community Trust

19 June 2022

The Claret Mountaineers have completed their 2022 challenge!

The Claret Mountaineers is a group made up of people who have benefitted greatly from the programmes run by the Northampton Town Community Trust around Health & Wellbeing, Disability Football and the Women’s and Girls Football programmes.

Those involved credit the Community Trust with changing their lives for the better and now wish to fundraise to say thank you and to give something back to the Community Trust.

Last year the Claret Mountaineers climbed Mt Snowdon, and this year, for their second adventure, they tackled the Horseshoe Ridge walk, the toughest circular walk in the Brecon Beacons (South Wales) over the weekend.

They climbed four mountains, namely Corn Du, the famous Pen y Fan, Cribyn and Fan y Big, with 2424 ft of elevation over the course of 10 miles.

This time they headed back to Wales 41 strong, building from the 20 participants they took last time, aiming to raise £10,000 for the Northampton Town FC Community Trust to deliver more accessible programmes in the local community.

From the £7,437 they raised last time, the Northampton Town Community Trust have been able to set up and deliver:

Weekly Powerchair Football sessions
Weekly Cerebral Palsy Football sessions at Goals on a Tuesday night
Set up 3 more blocks of Fit Cobblers including the upcoming first ever female Fit Cobblers block
Fund the setup of the new upcoming Active Fans programme
Funding towards new resources for the Multi Disability Football Club

This year's £10,000 target will allow the Northampton Town Community Trust to.

Continue the delivery and growth of the powerchair football sessions
Set up of Cerebral Palsy multi disability football team as part of the ongoing growth of the multi disability football club
Support the growth and transition of disability coaches from volunteer to qualified coaches
Set up and deliver football sessions for young people and adults who are partially sighted to blind and also new deaf football sessions
Set up of quarterly every player counts football festivals
Development and ongoing growth of the Walking Football Club
New girls football sessions
Creation of Health and Wellbeing Hubs around the county to target and reduce the risk of obesity and other health conditions

Congratulations guys! There is still time to support their efforts at justgiving.com/claretmountaineers2022
