The Claret Mountaineers is a group made up of people who have benefitted greatly from the programmes run by the Northampton Town Community Trust around Health & Wellbeing, Disability Football and the Women’s and Girls Football programmes.
Those involved credit the Community Trust with changing their lives for the better and now wish to fundraise to say thank you and to give something back to the Community Trust.
Last year the Claret Mountaineers climbed Mt Snowdon, and this year, for their second adventure, they are tackling the Horseshoe Ridge walk, the toughest circular walk in the Brecon Beacons (South Wales) this weekend
They will be climbing four mountains, namely Corn Du, the famous Pen y Fan, Cribyn and Fan y Big, with 2424 ft of elevation over the course of 10 miles which on average will take about 5 to 6 hours of solid hiking.
We caught up with some of the participants to hear why they wanted to take part.
“Having lost over 10% of my body weight through the NTFC Community Trust’s Fit Cobblers Programme, this is a fantastic way to give something back and support a great cause.”
