Northampton Town Women won 3-1 at home to Biggleswade United Reds in their third pre-season friendly on Sunday afternoon.
Fay Noble, Bianca Luttman and Alex Dicks scored the Cobblers’ goals against their sixth tier opponents.
The heat made for a slow start at Harpole FC, but the hosts opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour through Noble’s fantastic looping strike from 35 yards.
Biggleswade curled a low effort just wide in response on the half-an-hour mark.
The visitors equalised five minutes before the break when an attacker was played through on goal and converted the rebound after Holly Mayfield denied her initial effort.
The Cobblers improved in the second half, new signing Ella Bailey coming close twice early on with a cross and a shot that both flashed across the face of goal.
The hosts restored their lead on the hour when Luttman nodded home Dicks’ cross from close range.
Dicks doubled her tally and her side’s advantage late on, turning home at the back post from Georgia Tear’s pass after Favour Omenazu drove into the area and hit the post.
The Cobblers host tier three side Milton Keynes Dons in their fourth pre-season fixture next week.
