The Cobblers boss speaking after the game with West Bromwich Albion

14 July 2022

Jon Brady said he is pleased that he is putting his side through a series of tough fixtures as he looked back on the pre-season friendly against West Brom.

As well as facing the Baggies this pre-season, the Cobblers will also face Luton Town, as well as League 1 side Cheltenham Town. This follows on from fixtures against St Mirren and Dundee United in Scotland.

“West Brom are a very good Championship side and we knew that we would be out of possession quite a bit,” he said.

“We had to work hard on our shape out of possession and I thought that was very good in the first half.

“We could have been a little bit better on the ball but it was good to get some more minutes into the players.

“The youngsters who came on for the last ten minutes or so acquitted themselves well and that was really pleasing.

“We had a really strong week in Scotland, we had two really good tests against St Mirren and Dundee United and we feel the opposition we have this pre-season is a lot stronger than last pre-season. They have been really strong tests for us and Luton will be another one for us on Saturday."
