As the squad headed north to Scotland, manager Jon Brady reflected on the Cobblers first pre-season work out that took place against Nottingham Forest under 23s on Saturday.
“It was a very good work out for us on Saturday, we played a very competitive Forest under 23s side and it was a very good test for us,” he said.
“We got 45 minutes into most of the group and it was good to get those players a run out.
“Everyone came through okay and it was just really important for the players to get a touch on the ball and get that game awareness.
“We worked very hard in training on Friday and to come through unscathed was really good.
“It was an excellent opportunity for some of the young lads and it was good to see the senior players really coach them through the game. It’s really important for those young players to get that connection with the senior group.
“We are really looking forward to Scotland and we are still working extremely hard to add to the squad but as we’ve already said any players we do bring in have got to be the right fit for us.”
