JON BRADY'S COLCHESTER UNITED REACTION

The views of the Cobblers boss

30 July 2022

Jon Brady reflecting on the Cobblers opening day victory over Colchester United.

Ryan Haynes came off the bench to score a late winner after Colchester had twice come from behind to cancel out a brace from Sam Hoskins.

“It’s great to get off to a winning start and I’m really pleased we could send our supporters home happy,” he said.

“I felt all over the whole team came to the fore today and the subs who came on really made a difference.

“Everyone put a shift in, its a team game and Lee Burge made a terrific save right at the end.

“I’m pleased for everyone we managed to get the three points, there was a lot of good stuff from us today but there is also a lot we need to improve upon.

“Danny Hylton did really well and some of his touches were sublime. Sam Hoskins was excellent too and it’s a great start to the season for him. He keeps delivering and consistency is the key for him.

“We are still working hard to add to the group, the window is open until the end of August and as you could see today we needed a little something extra offensively.”
