CLARET MOUNTAINEERS RAISE OVER £10,000 TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY WORK THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY

The Claret Mountaineers can confirm the amount that was raised from their mountain climb.

The Claret Mountaineers 2022 fundraiser is now officially over. Building upon the success in 2021 where the group climbed Mount Snowdon and raised over £7,000, the group were determined to beat that total this time around.

This year the Claret Mountaineers took on the Brecon Beacons with a few more participants with a target to raise £10,000.

All the money has been counted and it can be confirmed that the amount raised is £12,159! Exceeding their goal by more than £2,000 thanks to the hard work done by all the members of the Claret Mountaineers.

A special mention must go to the groups sponsors Piroto Labelling, World Options, MPC Solutions, match funders in Horiba UK, Café Track and GD Printing.

The Claret Mountaineers would like to thank the NTFC Walking Football Club for their £250 donation to the fundraiser.

Paul Rance, of Belron UK, who is also a member of the Fit Cobblers alumni spearheaded the bid for the £5000 the group will receive as part of the Ronnie Lubner Charitable Foundation.

This year from the £12,159 raised the community trust can do the following;

  • Continue the delivery and growth of the powerchair football sessions
  • Set up of Cerebral Palsy multi-disability football team as part of the ongoing growth of the multi-disability football club
  • Support the growth and transition of disability coaches from volunteer to qualified coaches
  • Set up and deliver football sessions for young people and adults who are partially sighted to blind and new deaf football sessions
  • Set up of quarterly Every Player Counts football festivals
  • Development and ongoing growth of the Walking Football Club
  • New girls football sessions
  • Creation of health and wellbeing hubs around the county to target and reduce the risk of obesity and other health conditions

The Claret Mountaineers will soon be creating a committee to spearhead their plans and preparation for the 2023 fundraiser and other events and activities for the public to get involved in.
