RUNNING IN MEMORY OF LEE COLLINS AT SIXFIELDS ON SATURDAY

Group of runners to continue their challenge at Sixfields on Saturday

11 January 2022

A group of runners will have run 10K around the edge of the Sixfields pitch on Saturday morning, before the game with Forest Green Rovers, in memory of Lee Collins.

Last year sadly, we lost a friend, father, brother, son, teammate, captain, and all-round legend. In memory of Lee, some of his family and friends wanted to do something special, involving the whole football community and specifically the clubs that Lee spent all his footballing life.

Across this season, they are hoping to raise £10,000 for Lee’s three daughters and the men’s mental health and suicide prevention charity Movember.

Across this season for every club Lee played at, Joshua, his guide dog Ringo and Lee's mates will be running 10k around the stadium before one of their home matches.

The running started around Lee’s hometown club AFC Telford United on September 18th and although Lee never played for the club, he was and remains loved by many across the town.

They then ran around Molineux before Wolves home game against Newcastle on October 2nd.

On November 6th they ran around Edgar Street before Hereford’s home game against Kettering.

Also, in November on the 27th, they ran around Vale Park before Port Vale hosted Hartlepool.

On December 18th they ran around Oakwell before Barnsley’s game against West Bromwich Albion.

Then on New Year’s Day they ran around the New Meadow before Shrewsbury’s game against Sheffield Wednesday.

On Saturday they will be running around Sixfields and next week they will be running around Field Mill before Mansfield take on Leyton Orient.

On March 6th they will then be running around the New Lawn before Forest Green take on Bradford.

Finally, their last run will be around Huish Park on May 7th before Lee’s last club Yeovil take on Boreham Wood.

In total the group will have run 100km and hopefully raised lots of money for Lee’s daughters and Movember.

If you would like to meet us and either join in with the run or meet us for a drink to share favourite stories about Lee’s life, please feel free to get in touch on 07866 720467.
