JON BRADY PROUD AS COBBLERS OVERCOME CONTROVERSY TO CLAIM DESERVED POINT

The views of the Cobblers boss

Jon Brady reflecting on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Forest Green Rovers, Mitch Pinnock rescuing a deserved point against the league leaders with a superb 95th-minute strike.

Rovers took the lead in controversial circumstances with replays showing Mathew Stevens header hadn’t crossed the line but the Cobblers battled hard and Pinnock’s last-gasp strike was just rewards for their efforts.

“It was a wrong decision, we have a camera behind the goal and the ball was well away from crossing the line,” he said.

“I can’t say much more on that, I think it was a great game overall and we played really well today.

“It was a great advert for League 2 football, both teams were trying to win the game but we pushed and pushed and never gave in.

“I felt we had the key moments of the game offensively, we hit the post early on and we played some real positive football.

“We’ve had a really strong week in training and I felt confident going into the game but they are a really good side. All round they are competitive, they don’t give an inch and rightly so they are top of the league.

“The equaliser was the least we deserved after the decision for their goal and it was great for the fans too.

“We showed our never give in attitude again today and to come back from a goal down and a poor decision it feels like a win.

“We showed what we can do when we are at our best, the intensity and tempo to our game was much better, you can see we’ve been rusty but we are back to our full sharpness and hopefully the players can take confidence from that as well.”
