We were delighted to welcome Libby Pether to the game on Saturday.
Libby has been playing for the Northampton Town Girls PDC since October 2019 after attending a trial with the club.
She plays her grassroots football with Deanshanger Colts in South Northamptonshire.
In April 2020 Libby was taken ill and after spending a week in critical care at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
For the next six months Libby underwent chemotherapy and at the end of October was informed that she was in remission.
Libby has now returned to football, playing in two games and already bagging two goals, she has also returned to the Northampton Town Girls PDC and is looking forward to working with the coaches and team.
Libby said, “Northampton Town have been amazing to me, from the Chairman, first team management and players and Women's team I have felt support all the way and am part of the shoe army!"
Before kick off at the Forest Green Rovers game we welcomed Libby in to meet the squad.
