IDRIS KANU JOINS NORTHAMPTON TOWN

Attacker arrives at Sixfields

26 January 2022

Northampton Town have signed attacker Idris Kanu on loan from Peterborough United for the rest of the season.

The 22 year old Kanu, who can play as a striker or as a wide player, has made five Championship appearances so far this season and has just returned from being part of the Sierra Leone squad at the African Cup of Nations.

He played 17 times and scored twice in League 1 in 2020/21 as Peterborough won promotion to the Championship.

Kanu previously spent time with Aldershot and Boreham Wood earlier in his career, and Jon Brady is pleased to welcome the forward player to Sixfields.

"Idris is a creative player who is direct, he can travel with the ball and he has pace," said manager Jon Brady.

"He can be a threat at the top of the pitch or out wide and can play in more than one attacking position with the ability to create chances.

"He can be tricky to handle for defenders and he is an explosive player who can make things happen.

"Over the last 12 months he has had experience of both League 1 and the Championship and we think he will prove a good addition for us."
