Northampton Town Under 18s progressed to the Northamptonshire FA David Joyce Cup final with a 5-0 win away to Cogenhoe United on Thursday night.
Jack Connor and Peter Abimbola scored twice each, whilst Ethan Lack netted the young Cobblers’ other goal.
Coach Shane Goddard made two changes to the team that lost to Sutton United at the weekend, as Reece Irwin and Miguel Ngwa came in for Josh Tomlinson and Rico Duggan.
His side were on top in the first half and led a quarter-of-an-hour in when Connor converted Lack’s low ball across goal.
Three goals in six minutes on the half-an-hour mark put the visitors firmly in control.
Lack finished into the bottom corner on the turn to double the advantage, captain Abimbola added a third with a low shot that went in off the far post and Connor volleyed home Ngwa’s deep cross to make it four.
Abimbola completed the scoring 10 minutes into the second period, shifting the ball onto his left foot and finding the bottom corner through a crowd of bodies.
Bugbrooke St Michaels will be the Cobblers’ opponents in the final after the Badgers knocked out Kettering Town with a 6-4 victory last week.
The youth team return to EFL Youth Alliance League South East action on Saturday when they host top-of-the-table AFC Wimbledon.
