Northampton Town took a team to take on a Leicester City development side made up of their under 23’s and 18’s in a behind closed doors friendly this afternoon.
The Cobblers fielded a mixture of first team players and those part of the under 18 squad in a competitive match that finished 0-0.
First team coach Marc Richards took the team and was happy with what he saw.
“It was a competitive fixture against some good players”, he said. “We got more minutes in legs in those that need it ahead of a busy schedule, Jonny Maxted made some excellent saves whilst it was good to see Michael Harriman, Joseph Mills and Scott Pollock get 90 minutes under their belt.”
“It was also another opportunity for us to see some of the under 18’s and I thought they all did well against what was their Premier League equivalent.”
Northampton Town team: Jonny Maxted, Josh Flanagan, Max Dyche (sub Ethan Lack 70’), Michael Harriman, Joseph Mills, Courtney Lashley, Peter Abimbola, Scott Pollock, Liam Cross (sub Dylan Hill 70’), Beryly Lubala (sub Miguel Ngwa 70’), Benny Ashley-Seal (sub Jack Connor, 60’).
