Jon Brady was delighted following Tuesday night’s 1-0 home win over fellow promotion challengers Newport County at Sixfields, a result which lifted his side back into the top three of Sky Bet League 2.
Fraser Horsfall scored the winning goal from a Mitch Pinnock corner in the 82nd minute as the Cobblers recorded another clean sheet to go with back-to-back 1-0 wins.
“It was a hard fought game, they are a good side and it was two teams going toe-to-toe tonight,” he said.
“We’ve come out on top and I felt everyone to a man put their body on the line for us tonight. We created some good chances from open play and overall I am really pleased with the performance.
“Newport can really cut you open in the way they play and they are a very dangerous side, Liam Roberts made an excellent save one-on-one with Dom Telford but for the most part we managed to close them out.
“We are still building minutes into the players who have come in and it’s important we do that. It was really pleasing to get the win tonight but to get those players minutes as well was another big positive.
“For Louis Appere to get two full games in and play with that energy is a credit to him.
“We have got to rest and recover from tonight and Saturday will be another tough game.
“Aaron McGowan and Jack Sowerby have both been for scans and they will both be touch and go for the weekend. Saturday might come a bit too soon for them but hopefully they won’t be too far away.”
