Jon Brady says he is looking forward to Tuesday night’s clash with fellow promotion contenders Newport County at Sixfields, kick-off 7.45pm, and says while the Cobblers are full of respect for their visitors, the focus will be how his side prepare.
“It’s a really important game and if we can get a win it would take us four points above the opposition, we’re at home and that’s what we are looking to do,” he said.
“Dom Telford has done very well this season and sometimes you do look at individuals but that can’t take away from what Newport have done as a team.
“I’m sure the players are well aware of how Dom has done and how well Newport are doing right now but we have to focus on our own performance.
“They are a fluid side that play a good brand of attacking football and it will be a tough game."
On Saturday, the Cobblers recorded an important 1-0 win at Walsall, and looking back on that result, Brady added:
“It was a real team performance on Saturday, everyone pulled together and worked hard to get the result which was the most important thing.
“We needed to bounce back from Barrow and what you don’t want is a couple of losses in a row. We need more consistency and if we can put a run of wins together that will really help our cause going forward.
“I was delighted for Louis Appere. As a goalscorer you always want to get off the mark and that should build confidence. We want other players to chip in and score goals as well but it was great for Louis to get off the mark at the weekend.
“We’ve been flexible and adaptable all season in terms of how we play and what we do and we’ve been good at finding a way to get the best result we can.”
