Danny Rose and Beryly Lubala came into the Cobblers side for the midweek trip to Scunthorpe, replacing the injured Louis Appere and Jack Sowerby. Jon Brady was still without the suspended Shaun McWilliams but Josh Eppiah was back on the bench after recovering from a calf injury.

After a bright opening the Cobblers were nearly caught on the break but Tyrese Sinclair, under pressure from Mitch Pinnock, shot straight at Liam Roberts. The game then became somewhat scrappy with the Iron spurning a chance to go in front when no one was able to turn home a fizzed ball across the six-yard box. Roberts then made a good save to keep out a header from Sinclair to ensure the first half ended goalless.

Ross Millen made an important block to deny Mitch Pinnock a clear strike on goal following a good run down the right from Sam Hoskins and Pinnock also saw a shot deflected behind as the game reached the hour-mark.

Benny Ashley-Seal and Josh Eppiah came on in a double change and almost immediately combined for the opening goal, the Leicester City loanee denied by a goal-line clearance after his shot beat Watson.

Hoskins saw a shot from a wide angle tipped on to the cross bar as the Cobblers pressed for a late winner with Paul Lewis then going close in stoppage time after Eppiah had an initial effort blocked. In the end though both sides had to settle for a point after nine minutes of stoppage time.
