A look at the Boxing Day action for our young players out on loan

Six Northampton Town loanees were in action on Boxing Day.

Liam Cross played 86 minutes as Leamington drew 1-1 at home to Gloucester City in the Vanarama National League North.

The midfielder had an early shot blocked shortly before seeing another effort saved, and sent a free-kick over via a deflection on the hour mark.

Meanwhile, fellow midfielders Peter Abimbola and Miguel Ngwa featured for AFC Rushden and Diamonds who lost away to Bedford Town in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central.

The fixture was the Diamonds’ first under new manager Chris Nunn, their third permanent boss this season.

The Northampton loanees both started, Abimbola lasting the full 90 minutes and Ngwa being replaced going into the final 20.

Cobblers teammate Jack Connor was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, Josh Tomlinson made his debut for Harborough Town having signed for the Northern Premier League Midlands side last week.

The defender came off the bench for the final 10 minutes and helped the Bees see-out a 4-2 win at home to Boldmere St. Michaels.

Finally, youth team captain Dylan Hill started as Wellingborough Town drew 1-1 away to Cogenhoe United in the uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division South.
