Jon Brady said he saw plenty of positives in Tuesday's Carabao Cup first round performance against Wycombe Wanderers.
“What we wanted to do tonight is give some of the younger players an opportunity,” he said.
“8 out of the starting 11 tonight are under 24 and we wanted to have a look at them.
“We created a lot of chances but we couldn’t quite get that second goal to level the score up.
“We didn’t want to risk anyone tonight and it was a good opportunity for some other players in the group.
“Louis Appere has the quality and he showed that tonight. We saw last season his work rate and energy and there is still a lot more to come from him.
“Although the result wasn’t what we wanted there were some real strong performances and its definitely given me food for thought in terms of team selection for Saturday.”
