JON BRADY ON THE HARTLEPOOL UNITED CHALLENGE

The Cobblers boss looks ahead to Saturday

11 August 2022

Jon Brady says his players will be well prepared for Saturday’s home game with Hartlepool United.

“We are fully aware how motivated Hartlepool will be and we need to make sure we are ready for that challenge,” he said.

“They have had a few changes over the summer and we need to make sure we don’t give them anything to give them a lift or give them the momentum.

“This league is going to be more competitive than ever this season and you have seen so many late goals already. I think the five subs has made a difference and managers are able to really make an impact.

“Subs have been key for us already this season and with the heat expected again on Saturday that could well be the case again after 60/65 minutes.

“It will take time for the squad to gel, I thought we were quite fluent against Colchester but not quite as fluent against Grimsby.

“In the second half against Wycombe it really clicked and we played with a lot more intensity.

“You are going to get peaks and troughs at this stage and we are seeing that. As the season progresses you hope those peaks become more prolonged. Patience is key and it’s all about reinforcing our principles.

“We have to keep working with the group and when they keep making better decisions more consistently that will bode well for the future. We are going to have to help guide the younger players through this season a bit but by the end of it I think we can really reap the rewards from that.”
