Manager Jon Brady says the Cobblers could not have been handed a tougher test as he looked ahead to Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup first round tie with Wycombe Wanderers.
“We want to win every game but there are probably not too many harder tests at this level than Wycombe,” he said.
“They are a really competitive side who were one game away from the Championship last season and I’m sure they will put a strong team out.
“Wycombe as a club are a great example for everyone and their manager is an example of what can be achieved when you have that consistency.
“Gareth Ainsworth has to be commended for what he has done with others there and we know whatever team they put out it is going to be a very hard test for us.
Looking back on the draw at Grimsby Brady reflected:
“We know that we can be better than we were on Saturday, it was a tough challenge for us playing Grimsby in their first home game and we came under a lot of pressure towards the end but with that we showed a lot of strength in character to hold out for a point.
“There are always some things to work on and be better with and we certainly know the areas where we can improve. In games like Saturday you get to find out how strong the group is mentally and that was another positive.”
