JON BRADY PRAISES CHARACTER OF SQUAD AFTER WIN OVER HARTLEPOOL UNITED

The thoughts of the Cobblers boss

13 August 2022

Jon Brady was a happy man as he reflected on Saturday’s 2-1 home win over Hartlepool United in sweltering conditions at Sixfields, the three points secured by goals from Tyler Magloire and Louis Appere.

“They were tough conditions today but to get the three points was the most important thing,” he said.

“We like to press and that’s in our DNA but we had to be quite controlled and patient today.

“When I walked on the pitch at full-time I got a true sense of how hot it was and for us to keep going in that heat showed real strength of character.

“Marc Leonard added some composure to us on the ball and he did very well when he came on. Hartlepool are a possession based side and we knew it would be difficult to play against them, especially in this heat.

“To go in at 1-1 was a bit of a kick in the stomach and I didn’t think it was a free kick that lead to the goal but regardless of that we didn’t defend it well. I felt we did a lot better in the second half and we created some good chances.

“We were much better in possession at times today than last Saturday, we are still a work in progress and we will improve but the group really are trying and you could see that again today.”
