Jon Brady once again praised the character of his squad after a difficult few days as he reflected on Tuesday night’s 3-2 away win at Crawley, substitute Kieron Bowie with a dramatic winner in stoppage time after Sam Hoskins had earlier netted a brace on his 300th appearance for the club.
“The last couple of days have been quite difficult and the news that one of our family members had passed away was hard to take,” he said.
“We really feel for James but we respect him and his family's privacy.
“The result tonight was probably harsh on Crawley, they probably deserved more. It wasn’t pretty from us in the second half but the spirit and endeavour from our group to keep going and find a way to get the winner was incredible.
“We’ve got injuries and we were stretched but we’ve found a way to win.
“We are playing a bit more expansive this season, we just have to get the balance right.
“What else can I say about Sam, both finishes were sublime and the free kick was quite audacious. To get a brace on his 300th appearance is terrific and the boy is special."
