JOINT MANAGERS TAKING THINGS ONE GAME AT A TIME AFTER LATEST WIN FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN WOMEN

A look back on Sunday's action for Northampton Town Women

Joint-managers Lou Barry and Josh Oldfield are focussing on one game at a time after Northampton Town won 8-0 away to Leicester City Ladies in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division on Sunday afternoon.

Leah Cudone scored four, Alex Dicks netted a brace and Fay Noble and Eden Brown bagged the Cobblers’ other goals as they moved level on points with top-of-the-table Chesterfield with two games in hand on the Spireites.

Barry hopes his side can take the positives from the win into the run-in.

“We showed really good patience because our opponents sat back for most of the game,” he said.

“There were some good spells, it’s another clean sheet and we move onto the next one.”

“There are six games left and our challenge is to win them all.”

“It’s one game at a time for us and we want to take the momentum from today and keep pushing to finish the season strongly.”

The Cobblers beat Loughborough Students by the same scoreline a fortnight ago.

Oldfield is pleased that the goals are finally flowing for his side.

“We’ve kept clean sheets consistently but now we’re adding goals,” he added.

“The goals have been spread throughout the team and I’m delighted with the quality of them.”

Barry and Oldfield’s side host Rise Park next week. The Cobblers won 7-0 and 7-1 when the sides met in the league and the Vitality Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round respectively early in the season.

Oldfield expects his side to have to work hard once again.

“It will be a similar challenge to the one we faced today,” he said.

“They’ll sit deep so it will be quite a difficult game and we’ll have to play with the same patience and ruthlessness that we did today.”
