Northampton Town won 8-0 away to Leicester City Ladies in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division on Sunday afternoon.

Leah Cudone scored four, Alex Dicks netted a brace and Fay Noble and Eden Brown bagged the Cobblers’ other goals as they moved level on points with top-of-the-table Chesterfield with two games in hand on the Spireites.

Joint-managers Lou Barry and Josh Oldfield made one change to the team that won away to Loughborough Students a fortnight ago, as Chloe Martin replaced Emma Billenness in the starting line up.

The visitors raced into a lead after just 50 seconds, Cudone finishing after Dicks lifted the ball over the goalkeeper.

Noble doubled the advantage a few minutes later when she turned home at the back post from Cudone’s ball across goal.

Cudone made it three before the quarter-of-an-hour mark, poking past the goalkeeper from Georgia Tear’s through ball.

The forward had the chance to complete a first half hat-trick two minutes before the break, but she side-footed wide from the penalty spot after Dicks was pulled back in the area.

However, she did get her third with a shot that went in off the post early in the second period.

She added her fourth after the hour, converting on the turn after Martin’s effort was blocked.

Dicks got on the scoresheet with 15 to go when she swept in at the back post from Rachael St John Mosse’s low cross.

The striker doubled her tally soon after, smashing home after the ball fell to her on the edge of the box.

Brown rounded-off the scoring when she drove into the area and fired across goal into the back of the net with just over five minutes left.

Barry and Oldfield’s side host Rise Park next week. The Cobblers won 7-0 and 7-1 when the sides met in the league and the Vitality Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round respectively early in the season.
