A squad made up of under 12 and under 13 players from the club's Shadow and Development programme spent the Easter weekend on tour in the South West, including participating in the 2022 Millfield Cup.
The annual tour organised for player pathway players in the U12 and 13 age groups, returned after a 2-year break due to Covid. For the first time, the group travelled to Millfield School in Somerset, leaving on Good Friday, and coming back on Easter Monday. On the pitch, the boys were unfortunate to not make the final after 2 wins a draw and 2 defeats in their group games, scoring 11 goals and only conceding three, keeping 3 clean sheets in the five games.
Away from the tournament, there were chances to do some training and analysis workshops with coaches Jack White and Pete Stephenson, as well as visits to the swimming pool, an inter-squad football quiz and a fun night ten pin bowling. There were also some tour awards handed out on the Monday.
On the way back on Easter Monday, the boys stopped off at Ashton Gate, home of Bristol City, to watch an entertaining 1-1 draw between the hosts and play off chasing Sheffield United. The boys represented the football club excellently, displaying the traits that we expect of Northampton Town players.
Well done boys!
