FOOTBALL & EDUCATION PROGRAMME CENTRAL 4 SQUAD SCORE TWELVE AGAINST MANCHESTER CITY

A report of Wednesday's action

22 September 2021

The Northampton Town Football and Education Programme CEFAL Central 4 squad won 12-0 at home to Manchester City on Wednesday.

Jahdai Smith scored four, Archie O’Donnell a hat-trick and substitute Tyrun Primus a brace. Sonny Reeves, Elliot Balchin-Love and Kenny Kwarteng scored the Cobblers’ other goals.

The hosts opened the scoring after just 12 seconds, Smith dispossessing a defender and slotting into the bottom corner.

Reeves tapped home to double the lead soon after, and O’Donnell added a third when his cross-shot found the far corner after 20 minutes.

O’Donnell flicked Reeves’ through ball past the goalkeeper, Balchin-Love dribbled towards goal and finished, and Smith turned in the area and fired home to make it six before the break.

Smith cut inside and smashed in to complete his hat-trick early in the second half.

O’Donnell beat his man and found the top corner for his third on the hour mark, and substitute goalkeeper Kelvin Kwarteng started a move that was finished by other substitute Tyrun Primus 10 minutes later.

Kenny Kwarteng fired home a 10th from long range with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, and Smith rounded the goalkeeper and passed the ball into the empty net for his fourth a minute later.

Kelvin Kwarteng played another long ball forward and Primus converted at the second attempt to complete his brace and the scoring.

Francis Banks’ side travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in three weeks.
