JOINT MANAGER LOU BARRY DELIGHTED AS WOMEN CONTINUE PERFECT START

Reaction to Sunday's fixture

11 October 2021

Joint-manager Lou Barry praised his ‘fantastic’ players as Northampton Town Women continued their perfect start to the East Midlands Women’s Regional Premier Division season with a 4-0 win at home to Chesterfield on Sunday.

Leah Cudone scored a brace, captain Eden Brown struck from long range and Rachael St John Mosse netted the other goal for Barry and Josh Oldfield’s side.

Speaking after the match, Barry said: “It was competitive and enjoyable.

“We started slowly but we grew into the game and the first goal settled us.

“We controlled the game, created opportunities and worked hard for each other after that.

“We dominated an extremely good side today.

“The players were fantastic in and out of possession so they deserve all the credit.”

The Cobblers travel to Kettering Town in the Northamptonshire FA Women’s Cup first round next week.

Barry added: “We’re excited because it’s a local derby and it’s another competition that we want to win.

“It’s an opportunity to rotate, try a few different things and take our minds of the league.

“The squad’s loving how we’re playing at the moment and they can’t wait for training and the next game.”
