SHANE GODDARD CONTENT WITH A POINT FOR UNDER 18S ON SATURDAY

The under 18s coach looks back on the weekend EFL Youth Alliance action

3 October 2021

Northampton Town Under 18s coach Shane Goddard was 'happy with a point' after his side came from behind to draw 2-2 away to Luton Town in the EFL Youth Alliance League on Saturday.

The young Cobblers were on top and a point was the least they deserved. Rico Duggan and Jack Connor scored their goals and both players have netted two in as many games.

Speaking after the match, Goddard said: “It was a really positive performance.

“Luton are always a difficult side so we’re happy with a point.

“The performance levels and structure were good but we just lacked that end product.

“We had the better of the chances to go on and get the win, but take nothing away from the performance, our work rate and attitude were excellent.

“There are no easy games but we’re making steps forward and improving our performances.

“It’s nice to see some consistency.

“Rico’s been very patient since the start of the season and he’s making an impact.

“Jack led the line fantastically today, he was a real presence for us up front and he caused problems throughout.”

Unbeaten in their last two matches, the youth team host Southend United in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup third round next week.
