Cobblers boss Jon Brady was delighted as goals in either half from Aaron McGowan and Fraser Horsfall secured a 2-0 home win over Mansfield.
“It was a strong afternoon for us,” he said.
“We had that intensity that we want and we really restricted Mansfield.
“It was a good strike from Aaron and it was another good header from Fraser for the second one. We’ve shown that we’ve got players who can score all across the pitch but what we would like is a bit more consistency.
“We are all fighting for that consistency in this league and we can’t relent from this performance against Stevenage. We have to keep that intensity.
“Two weeks ago against Sutton we were so far off where we want to be but it was great we could put that performance in today in front of our home crowd.
“We’ve worked really hard in the week and today we reaped the rewards.”
