Northampton Town Under 18s won 3-0 at home to Luton Town in the EFL Youth Alliance League South East on Saturday.

Jack Connor scored twice and Tommy Curry netted the other goal as the young Cobblers secured their third win from four games in all competitions.

Coach Shane Goddard made five changes to the team that knocked Wellingborough Town out of the Northamptonshire FA David Joyce Cup in the week.

Charlie Woods, Josh Brown, Peter Abimbola, Curry and Connor all came into the side.

The Cobblers opened the scoring early on when Miguel Ngwa won the ball high up the pitch and played a through pass to Curry, who crossed for Connor to nod home from close range.

Connor almost added to his tally after a quarter-of-an-hour when his header from Ngwa’s deep corner was cleared off the line.

Curry curled just wide of the far post after being teed up by Connor on the half-an-hour mark, but the winger did double the lead 10 minutes later when he placed into the bottom corner from another Connor lay off.

Connor scored the Cobblers’ third shortly after the break, volleying into the top corner at the back post from Courtney Lashley’s ball in.

Abimbola rode a challenge and drove over from 25 yards on the hour mark, and the Cobblers captain preserved a clean sheet late on when he made a last-ditch challenge to deny Tyrelle Newton from six yards.

Goddard’s side host Stockport County in the FA Youth Cup second round on Wednesday 17th November. The tie will be played at Sixfields and kick off is at 7pm.
