WOMEN FOOTBALL & EDUCATION PROGRAMME SQUAD SCORE FOURTEEN WITHOUT REPLY IN LATEST VICTORY

Details of Wednesday's NFYL South Championship fixture

24 November 2021

The Northampton Town Football and Education Programme NFYL South Championship Women squad won 14-0 at home to Kent Football United on Wednesday afternoon.

Alex Dicks scored a triple hat-trick and Charlie Cooper netted four as the Cobblers continued their 100% start to the league season and brought their goal tally to 55 in six matches in all competitions.

The hosts took an early lead, Cooper racing through on goal and finding the bottom corner.

Cooper turned provider two minutes later when she squared the ball to Dicks, who tapped in from close range.

The strikers linked up again soon after, Cooper diverting Dicks’ low cross into the far corner.

It was four a quarter-of-an-hour in when Dicks was played in over the top and her half-volley looped over the goalkeeper.

Cooper completed her hat-trick when she cut inside and shot low into the bottom corner, and Dicks rounded off her treble when she ran through on goal and slotted home.

The Cobblers were awarded a penalty for handball seven minutes before the break, but Cooper missed the target from 12 yards.

However, she made up for her miss less than a minute from the interval when she put pressure on the goalkeeper who parried a corner into her own net.

Dicks added her fourth early in the second half when she fired a first-time effort into the roof of the net.

Cooper’s fourth came on the hour mark when her fierce volley crossed the line despite a touch from the goalkeeper.

Dicks scored twice in quickfire fashion to complete a double hat-trick with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining, checking past a defender and unleashing a powerful strike from the edge of the area before bearing down on goal and converting.

She added her seventh, eighth and ninth late on, finding the back of the net via the crossbar, firing into the top corner from the edge of the box and shooting low into the bottom left.

Josh Oldfield’s side saw out the last few minutes to earn a dominant win. They host Portsmouth next week.

Cobblers: Isobel McDonald, Daisy Brown, Sophie Rylance, Beth Artemiou, Dannii Warren, Sophie Taylor, Chloe Martin, Charlie Cooper, Remi Martin, Ella Barber, Alex Dicks
