JON BRADY PLAYING THE WAITING GAME BEFORE NAMING SATURDAY'S TEAM

Cobblers boss provides a squad update

5 November 2021

Jon Brady provides a squad update ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup first round clash with Cambridge United at Sixfields, kick-off 3pm.

“We have had to assess the illnesses and injuries, we had one or two extra bodies in training on Thursday and we are hopeful of having maybe one or two more back before the weekend,” he said.

“We will leave it as late as we can to make any decisions but we have got to look at the fitness levels and at the moment it’s a bit of a waiting game.

“The young players who came in on Tuesday night deserved their opportunity and I’d have no fear in playing any of them on Saturday. I’m a great believer in putting round pegs in round holes where at all possible and I don’t like shuffling things around too much.

“Dylan Connolly is back in the building but there are various protocols you need to go through after having Covid and we will have to fully assess him.

“Aaron McGowan is improving but whether or not Saturday will be too soon for him we will have to wait and see.”
