Shane Goddard, who last week was confirmed as the new under 18's coach, has been speaking about his pride at being appointed to the role.
Like many at the club, Goddard is not just an employee but also a lifelong supporter, and he says he has a real passion in helping to develop young players for the club.
"I am really proud to have this opportunity," he said. "My connection with this club stretches back way beyond my employment. I am a big supporter as well as an employee and I went to my first game back in 1993/94 at the County Ground. I was a season ticket holder for years, my Dad still is a season ticket holder so I am really proud and really privileged to have this opportunity."
Max Dyche, Liam Cross and Josh Flanagan have all recently signed professional contracts, and Goddard has been talking about the journey those players have gone on as they progressed through the player pathway.
"It is great to see those 3 boys step up. A lot of credit must go to the boys themselves and their families and also to the coaches who have been working with the boys a lot longer than I have. Max and Liam were under 12s when I first came across them and Josh was an under 16 and all of us in the academy take great pride in seeing them at the very start of their professional journey.
"We are looking to prepare all of our players for the first team. The relationship between the under 18s and the first team is as strong as I have known it. All of the coaches have worked together, Jon Brady gave me my first coaching position and we all know each other and how we work and what is expected. They are long established relationships and that will help the players. That gives us some really good opportunities to develop the young players.
"I have been at Moulton this week and the new pitches are looking great. The quality of them will be fantastic and that will only help both the first team and the under 18s. We are looking forward to getting started with pre-season next month."
