Fantastic engagement from families across the county

21 May 2021

We want to share an update on the Climate Action Programme Planet Super League that parents and families across the county have been engaging with.

A reminder children take part in a large selection of fun activities online which are simple to complete at home and can be done flexibly around your lives to make this easy, enjoyable and pressure-free and will then lead their families at home to inspire small changes that can have a big impact on the environment.

The activities will help you save money, have fun as a family and be more sustainable, all whilst representing the Northampton Town Community Trust

Whilst doing this, families have been representing Northampton Town Community Trust in a league table of 24 professional football clubs for points and prizes.

Each week pupils have been scoring goals and we have also been giving out weekly prizes such as footballs, football goals, personal player videos, medals, holiday course places and even a visit from our mascot Clarence the Dragon.

We are currently top of the league table, the club impact table and one of our families the 'Burgesst Team' are the top scores in the whole competition!

Claire Burgess and her family have taken part every week and said "We have really enjoyed taking part as a family, and it has made us aware on how much we were wasting before and we have enjoyed learning on how to recycle and create things instead of wasting."

Damon Fox, Northampton Town Community Trust Schools Manager added: "We are really proud of how we have done as a club and a community trust in this social and climate action programme, our parents have been consistently completing the challenges weekly to make sure we have convincingly won our fixtures.

"I personally have engaged in the challenges and they are fun, easy and also good for your wellbeing, I have also not only saved money on the use of energy and water but also seeing the benefits towards the effects it has had on the environment, I hope our parents & families realise that too."
