MARC RICHARDS ON THE STRONG CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COACHING STAFF AND THE CLUB

First team coach says links can only help

First team coach Marc Richards says the strong affection that the coaching staff have with Northampton Town can only benefit the club.

Manager Jon Brady has come through the academy coaching structure, while Richards himself and Ian Sampson have both been long serving Northampton Town players while goalkeeping coach Dan Watson has now been with the club a number of seasons.

“It’s great working with people who have such a strong connection to the club," said Richards.

“I think we should appreciate that and what the club has done over the past few months, I wouldn’t imagine there are too many other teams who have such a strong connection.

“We’ve got people who know the club and what it is about and I think that really helps build foundations for the future.

“I’m only a year into full-time coaching and its certainly something that has caught my eye. I feel it’s the next best thing to playing and it’s something that really excites me.

“I like coaching players and it’s definitely something I see myself doing long term.

“The youth development here is in a good place with the coaches we have involved.

“I’ve worked with a number of age groups here over the last few years and I am really excited by what’s coming through.”
