FOOTBALL & EDUCATION PROGRAMME SIDE EDGED OUT BY QPR

Wednesday's match action

12 May 2021

The Northampton Town Football & Education side took on QPR at Moulton on Wednesday in their latest National Football Youth League fixture.

The Cobblers made a fast start and took the lead just five minutes in, Alfie Doherty playing a pinpoint through ball to Patrick McGrath who slid it home.

McGrath came close to making it two seven minutes later with a shot that was just wide while Ben Short shot straight at the keeper with twenty played.

Four minutes later and it was 2-0, Jacob Peaks with the assist this time for Freddie King. King's first effort was saved but he tucked home the rebound.

Rangers halved the deficit on 33 minutes with a good turn and shot in the box that beat Dom Kulaga.

They were level just after half time, the left winger cutting inside and firing a shot home.

Five minutes later the turnaround was complete when the striker showed good footwork to get away from the keeper to finish.

The Cobblers pressed for an equaliser with Aaron Asare heading wide in added time but the visitors completed the victory in an entertaining game.
