JON BRADY - 'WE HAVE FALLEN SHORT'

Jon Brady expressed his hurt and disappointment after Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Blackpool, a result which confirmed the Cobblers relegation from Sky Bet League 1.

“I’m deeply hurt by today, I totally believed from the outset that we could do it and stay up and I never gave up believing,” he said.

“We’ve thrown everything at it but in the end unfortunately we’ve just come up short.

“We haven’t been good enough in certain areas this season, and we’ve fallen short this season with what we have.

“In my tenure we’ve had to find away but if you look at the return from the strikers it’s not been good enough.

“We’ve got to decide as a football club what is the best way forward, I’ve given everything I’ve got but it’s not about me."

Speaking about the Blackpool game, Brady said:

“We had a couple of shouts for a penalty early on and if we get those it could have been a different story.

“I was disappointed with the three goals but Blackpool have recruited well and they are a class outfit.

“We made changes at half-time and we had to go for it but we’d rather have a go than not.

“We have to dust ourselves down from today, I’ve still got one more game to manage as we are and we’ve got to go to Sunderland and represent this football club in the right way.”
