JON BRADY ON BENEFITS OF RARE FREE MIDWEEK

An update ahead of Saturday's game with Crewe Alexandra

17 March 2021

Jon Brady has spoken about the positives of having a rare free midweek.

The Cobblers were without a scheduled midweek game for the first time since January 5, and Brady says that will have helped the squad.

“It’s been good to have a midweek without a game and it’s given us the chance to really get some principles on board,” he said.

“Playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday as we have been that hasn’t given us a lot of time in training or the opportunity to work on certain things.

“At the moment I think we are very organised out of possession but we know we need to do more in possession and we are just trying to find that balance.

“The players have been hugely receptive and they have taken everything on board. They have delivered what we’ve asked of them and we feel there has been a real positive change.

“Every single player is working hard for each other, there is a pressure to get results and that might weigh heavy on some but what we are trying to do is to free them up. They know the importance of us maintaining our League 1 status and everyone is really pulling together to make that happen.

“Even the players on the sidelines are playing a vital role, you are only as good as the players on the fringes because they are the ones that are pushing the players in the team and the likes of Alan Sheehan and Cian Bolger are driving the group on.”
