Caretaker boss Jon Brady was not happy with the penalty award in Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Charlton.
“I knew in real time that it wasn’t a penalty, Jack Sowerby jumped high to win the ball and their player ran into him,” he said.
“I think when the referee looks back he will feel as sick as I do. It should have been a foul to us.
“It was a workman like performance up until then, we dug in, we were strong and we were solid. It wasn’t pretty but then the penalty gave them an out. It’s quite sickening because we had worked so hard and the penalty changed the game.
“There was fight and spirit from us tonight and it was a great header from Alex Jones. Even before that I felt he was clipped and we maybe could have had a penalty but perhaps Alex is too honest.
“We went for it right at the end and we aren’t going to ever give up or give in. We huffed and puffed a little bit tonight but we are not going to die trying.
“Our final ball and our crossing wasn’t great tonight and we weren’t at our best. You are going to have that sometimes but our heads never dropped.
“The penalty was tough to take but we have got to build even more strength from those tough moments.”
