NORTHAMPTON TOWN SIGN NICKE KABAMBA

Striker pens deal with the Cobblers

2 June 2021

Northampton Town have signed striker Nicke Kabamba on a 2 year deal after he left Kilmarnock.

The 28 year old, 6ft 3in front man started out in non league football before his performances attracted the attention of Portsmouth and he moved to Fratton Park in January 2017.

He had spells on loan at Colchester United and Aldershot Town while with Pompey, before moving to Havant & Waterlooville in the summer of 2018.

He then had a loan spell at Hartlepool United, a move that became permanent in 2019 and saw him score fourteen goals in 33 starts and eleven substitute appearances, before his most recent spell was at Kilmarnock where he netted nine times in 33 starts plus fourteen appearances as a substitute.

Kabamba, who was a sprinter when he was younger, will officially join the Cobblers from July 1st.

"Nicke is a good size and is very mobile," said manager Jon Brady.

"With how we want to play, Nicke can help stretch teams for us with his pace and we think we are signing him at a good age with a good amount of experience under his belt.

"He can link play, he can finish with both feet and he is very powerful. He can be a real handful to play against and the threats he offers can create space and opportunities for others.

"He is a also a very good character and that is very important to us. He played with Peter Kioso at Hartlepool, and Peter gave him a very strong reference."
