New signing goalkeeper Jonny Maxted is looking forward to the battle with Liam Roberts for the number one shirt and working with goalkeeping coach Dan Watson.
“I’ve spoken to a few players who have worked with Dan and they have all said to me what a top quality coach he is and I can’t wait to get going,” he said.
“As a goalkeeper you want that competition, you want to be challenged in training and I think it will be a good battle for both of us.
“I heard of some interest at the end of last season and when Dan phoned my agent up to say that the club wanted me, it was an offer I simply couldn’t turn down.
“It’s good to have the deal done before pre-season starts and I can get to know all the lads straight away.
“It is difficult when you are out of contract as a player in the summer and there are times when that can impact you but I’ve kept myself fit and I’m ready to hit the ground running.
“I think this pre-season will be the best I’ve had fitness wise and I can’t wait to get cracking”
