New midfielder on his move to Northampton Town

11 June 2021

Midfielder Paul Lewis was delighted to sign for Northampton Town.

The former Tranmere Rovers midfielder says he is eager to get started and is pleased to renew a connection with first team coach Marc Richards.

"As soon as I heard the plans the club has I was excited and I can't wait to get started,” he said.

“I’ve been very impressed with what the Gaffer has said, what he wants to do and how he wants to play.

"We want to get back into League 1 but we just need to come in day by day, work hard and see where that takes us.

“I really enjoyed my time at Tranmere but I just felt this was the right move for me.

“I spoke to a few other managers but I was really impressed with the gaffer here and I think this is the right place for me to carry on my career.

“I played with Rico (Marc Richards) for six or seven months at Cambridge so there is a relationship there and I’m looking forward to working with the Gaffer.

“The gaffer has said what he wants from me and the style he wants to play.

“I’m a box to box midfielder who likes to get forward and chip in with my fair share of goals. I got seven last season and I’d like to improve on that.”
