JONNY MAXTED SIGNS FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN

Goalkeeper is latest new signing

24 June 2021

Northampton Town have signed former Exeter City goalkeeper Jonny Maxted on a one year contract with effect from July 1st.

27 year old Maxted started his career at Doncaster Rovers before spells at both Forest Green Rovers and Accrington Stanley.

He joined Exeter City in 2019 and played 39 times for the Grecians, helping them achieve two top ten League 2 finishes in his two seasons at St James Park, playing 27 times as the Grecians came fourth in 2019/20.

"We welcome Jonny to the club and he is here to compete with and challenge Liam Roberts for the number one shirt," said manager Jon Brady.

"He has a good amount of experience and has been in a side who have been around the top end of League 2 over the last couple of seasons.

"Competition for places is healthy and that is what we are looking for all over the pitch.

“Jonny has a great attitude and I know Dan Watson is looking forward to working with both keepers this season. Both Liam and Jonny will be working hard with Dan through pre-season in the build up to the first game of the season to ensure both are as well prepared as possible.”
