New signing Jon Guthrie has been speaking about his move to Northampton Town.
“I can’t speak highly enough of my time at Livingston but I’m really excited to get going at Northampton now,” he said.
“After my agent told me there was a bit of interest I had a long chat with the Gaffer and he spoke to me in detail about his plans and what he wants to do with the club and is hoping to achieve.
“That ambition the club has fit perfectly with what I wanted to do, leaving Scotland I wanted to sign for a club looking for promotion and I certainly feel Northampton is the right club for that.
“I felt really wanted by the Gaffer and as a player that’s what you want.
“The move up to Scotland was a big move for me and I really enjoyed it but I always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to come back down to England."
The defender also expressed his delight about the deal being completed early in the summer and is looking forward to taking full part in the pre-season schedule.
“I’m delighted to have the move all wrapped up early and I’m looking forward to pre-season," he said.
“I think It’s quite important to have that time to gel with the lads to find out about each other, you want to get to know the players you are going to be playing with and it’s important to get to know them off the pitch as well.”
