KEITH CURLE WITH A SQUAD UPDATE

The Cobblers boss with the January transfer window latest

22 January 2021

Cobblers boss Keith Curle provides a fitness update on Alan Sheehan and says conversations remain ongoing with some of his players who may leave the club in January.

“We’ve had enquiries and there are a few phone calls taking place,” he said.

“Any deal that happens has to be right for me, right for the football club and right for the player.

“Nobody will be forced out and any deal that does happen must be advantageous for all parties.

“January is always a difficult time and I understand the frustration of players if they feel they are not getting enough game time but just because a player might not be in the team right now doesn’t mean that they are not, in my opinion, an integral part of the group.

“If I believe a player has a role to play, even if it’s only a small one, I won’t let them leave.

“Alan Sheehan is field based training and we will make a decision about Saturday. His comeback has taken a bit longer than he would have liked but he is the sort of player who wants to play and train every day.

“One positive with the postponements we’ve had, Alan is thinking 'that’s two more games I can play in later in the season.'"
