KEITH CURLE READY FOR TOUGH TEST AS COBBLERS BID TO BECOME FIRST SIDE TO INFLICT LEAGUE DEFEAT ON OXFORD SINCE NOVEMBER

The Cobblers head in to Saturday's home game with Oxford United looking to become the first team to inflict a league defeat on Karl Robinson's side since November.

Keith Curle knows his side face a difficult game, but is looking forward to the test.

“Every game we go into we try and win,” he said.

“The back four we put out against Oxford in December was very different and we still held our own in that game for a period.

“It will be a different team and a different game on Saturday, every game throws up different challenges but it’s another opportunity for us.

“Oxford are a good team and they were in the play-off final last season. They have the familiarity of playing at this level and that is something we are still working towards.

“We are getting players back from injury now and with the new players coming in it brings a freshness to the squad.

“When you want to continue an upward spiral you need to constantly improve the squad and you do that by bringing in better players.

“Recruitment is an ongoing process, it doesn’t just start when the window opens and we are always looking.

“We may see some players going out this month and I’ve had conversations with certain players who haven’t been getting the game time with us this season that I believe they need to further their careers.”
