BRYN MORRIS SIGNS FOR NORTHAMPTON TOWN

Midfielder arrives from Portsmouth

18 January 2021

Northampton Town have signed midfielder Bryn Morris on loan from Portsmouth for the rest of the season.

24 year old Morris started his career with Middlesbrough and enjoyed loan spells with Burton Albion, Coventry City, York City and Walsall before joining Shrewsbury Town in January 2017.

In a two year spell at Shrewsbury he played 43 times, including in the 2017/18 League 1 play off semi finals and final as well as making another 21 appearances on loan at Wycombe Wanderers.

He joined Portsmouth for an undisclosed fee in January 2019 and has made 28 appearances for Pompey, eighteen of which have come this season. He played 90 minutes for Portsmouth in both legs of last season's League 1 play off semi finals against Oxford United.

Morris has also represented England at under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-19 levels, captaining each of the age groups.

"Bryn is a player I have known about for a long time," said manager Keith Curle.

"When he was at Middlesbrough and I was at Carlisle, I tried to sign him and I have followed his progress closely since.

"He is an all round midfield player. He can win the ball, recycle possession, he can play a pass and he can open teams up.

"He is only 24 but he has good League 1 experience and a good League 1 pedigree, having played in the League 1 play offs twice in the last three seasons.

"I think he will benefit from the move as will we. I am pleased to welcome him to the club."

The deadline for signing players in time for Tuesday's game at Blackpool was noon on Monday.
