KEITH CURLE PLEASED WITH STRONG AWAY PERFORMANCE

The views of the Cobblers boss after the draw at Fleetwood Town

26 January 2021

Cobblers boss Keith Curle was pleased with the performance of his team as he reflected on Tuesday night’s draw at Fleetwood.

“A clean sheet away from home is always a good starting point but the more the game went on the more likely I thought we looked to win it,” he said.

“We had more dominance as the game went on and the way we finished shows the confidence in the group. There are still things we need to tidy up on and improve but we protected and used the ball better as the game went on.

“We got ourselves into some good positions and arguably the best chance of the game fell to Ryan Edmondson in the first half.

“With Mickel Miller and Jack Sowerby out we had to re-adjust slightly but I think that shows the strength we have in the squad. Peter Kioso showed his athleticism and bravery with a great clearance early on and the more the game went on we were able to get him forward.

“We gave ourselves a good platform tonight and that is vital when you are trying to build confidence and momentum.

“We are trying to be progressive and develop a style and identity within this division. I think it was only Sam Hoskins who started tonight that played at Wembley and that shows the work that has gone on with our recruitment.

“A lot of work has gone on in training to integrate the players we’ve brought in, it doesn’t happen overnight but everybody at the football club is pushing to get the club on an upward curve.”
