FIVE NEW ARRIVALS AND A NEW CONTRACT - A LOOK BACK AT THE CLUB'S JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW BUSINESS

A round up of a busy month

1 February 2021

January is over and the January transfer window will close in the next few hours. With no new Northampton Town business expected, we take a look back at the club's transfer activity over the last few weeks.

We are actually going to start by going back to late December, just before January, and two significant pieces of news.

First, player-coach Alan Sheehan signed a new contract to stay at the club, while Lloyd Jones, who played seven times for the club last season, joined the club.

The arrival of Jones saw Brentford loanee Luka Racic return to his parent club, before it was confirmed that Ricky Holmes had come to the end of his short term contract.

The club had succeeded where other clubs have failed by helping Ricky to return to match fitness and he played eleven games for the Cobblers in his second spell.

Chris Lines also left the club, the 35 year old midfielder moving on to sign for Stevenage, before the Cobblers announced two new signings in the space of one afternoon, long term targets Mickel Miller arriving from Rotherham United and striker Ryan Edmondson checking in from Leeds United, both on loan to the end of the season.

A few days later, Bryn Morris became the latest new arrival, the Portsmouth midfielder, who played in last season's League 1 play off semi finals, another addition on loan to the end of the season.

Checking out were striker Harry Smith, who moved on loan to SPL side Motherwell on loan for the rest of the season, while Nicky Adams opted to join Oldham Athletic in a move to take him closer to his young family in the north west.

The final signing of the January window was Luton Town right sided defender Peter Kioso (pictured) who arrived after an impressive first half of the season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, before Joe Martin, like Chris Lines, also departed for Stevenage, meaning Adams, Lines and Martin will enjoy a reunion in early April when Stevenage meet Oldham Athletic in a Sky Bet League 2 fixture. The final departure of the window came on deadline day when Christopher Missilou moved to Swindon Town.
